When Does American Dad Start Again

American Dad! Season 19 Release Date
American Dad! Season 19 Release Date

When can we expect Season 19 of 'American Dad!' to release on TBS? Is the show coming back, or is it canceled? Firstly, if you're not familiar with American Dad!, it is an American adult animated situational comedy developed by Seth MacFarlane, Matt Weitzman, and Mike Barker for Fox that currently airs on TBS networks. Initially, the show aired in February 2005 and got syndicated on Fox.

This show tells the fun stories of an upper-middle-class family, the Smiths, in Langley Falls, Virginia. The head of the household is the ultraconservative Stan Smith, a CIA agent. Then there's the wife, Francine. The daughter is Hayley, a political opponent to Stan and their idiot son Steve. Together with them, we have supporting characters like a talking goldfish, an alien, and Hayley's boyfriend. Now without any further ado, let's begin covering this topic.

American Dad! Was Renewed for Two Seasons Back In December 2021

TBS networks decided to give the green light for Seth MacFarlane's American Dad! to see two more seasons, 20, and 21. And that also implies a few production changes as MacFarlane now steps in the backseat and lets Executive Producer Brian Boyle and creator Matt Weitzman take over as showrunners. And this is with freshly-inked contracts on TBS's behalf.

American Dad! Season 19 consists of 22 episodes.

Moreover, this is a great piece of news for fans and for the crew, considering that COVID-19 and production slashes hit hard in the last seasons. But not for TBS, because Sam Linsky and Adrienne O'Riain, head honchos at TNT, TBS, and truTV scripting, expressed to the media that they have high hopes for American Dad! and that they wish that the series' style continues to grab the attention of the public.

American Dad! Continues To Rake In Viewers 17 Years On

For the General Manager at TNT, truTV, and TBS Brett Weitz, the bet on American Dad! is a sure one. For one part, the show continues to build its success on great visuals, which is always a good hook for new viewers. And for another part, the show is always "Destination-based," and after 17 years of American Dad! on the screens, the show continues raking in viewers for the network week after week.

Cast

The Smiths, a suburban family, are the focus of 'American Dad!' As a result, the main cast is relatively small, consisting mostly of voice actors. Seth MacFarlane (you might remember him from "A Million Ways to Die in The West, opposite Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron) provides the voice of the Smith household patriarch, CIA agent Stan. Roger, the family's live-in extraterrestrial, is also voiced by MacFarlane.

Wendy Schaal (you might remember her from "Small Soldiers," "The 'Burbs," and "Innerspace") plays Francine, Stan's stay-at-home mother and wife of the Smith children. Hayley, Stan and Francine's rebellious adolescent daughter, is voiced by Rachel MacFarlane (she voiced Kate Lockwell in Starcraft II and she's Seth's sister), and Steve, their younger adolescent son, is voiced by Scott Grimes (you might remember him from playing Archie Morris in ER).

Moreover, Klaus, the Smiths' talking pet fish, is also voiced by Dee Bradley Baker (from SpongeBob Squarepants and Avatar: The Last Airbender). Furthermore, Jeff Fischer, Hayley's boyfriend, is played by Jeff Fischer (Doc McStuffins, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series). Aside from the main cast members mentioned above, the show has some big names made cameo appearances or voice secondary characters over the years. Patrick Stewart (Captain Pickard in Star Trek), Paget Brewster (Supervisory Special Agent Emily Prentiss in Criminal Minds), and Curtis Armstrong (Booger in Revenge of the Nerds) are among them.

American Dad! Season 19 Possible Plotlines

This show's possible plotlines are always up for grabs. Firstly, it is set in a fictional town in Virginia called Langley Falls. That's where CIA Agent Stan Smith is always on the alert for any terrorist activity. And when he's not out looking to preserve the homeland's integrity, that's when the comedic situations pop up. And mostly those come out of his interactions with Francine, his dedicated housewife whose sex, drugs, and wild past often comes back to bite her in the ass. On the opposite side of the political aisle, we have Hayley, a liberal democrat who constantly antagonizes Stan and causes comedic episodes.

Elements within American Dad! That Make Up Its Plotlines

Rounding up the characters, we have dork Steve, the little teen son trying to act cool as he interacts with Roger the alien from Area 51. And also, we have Hayley's husband, Jake Fischer. And it is with this basic set of characters that the show manages to make black comedy predicaments and circumstances in its story arcs, coupled with unexpected plot twists and elements of hyperbolic character.

Moreover, the show constantly develops stories within stories to sidetrack us with unknown and unrelated characters in the circumstances irrelevant to the plot just to make us laugh, much in the same style of Family Guy. After all, this is a Seth MacFarlane idea, and its nonsensical elements of surreal humor, occurrences, and circumstances are what keep us watching it over and over. The fact is that you can miss a couple of seasons. And then watch it right at the beginning, middle or end and still get a laugh.

American Dad! Season 18 Finale Recap

When Snot abandons the science club after the team's turtle is killed in favor of a new croquet club, Steve fears that his friendship with him will suffer. Just in time for the Halloween pep rally, Billy offers to retrieve Dr. Kalgary's method for resurrecting the dead, which they successfully demonstrate by bringing the turtle back to life.

Principal Lewis, on the other hand, declares it a monstrosity and vows to destroy it personally, but Steve, fearful that it will still end their friendship, accidentally pushes him down the school's basement stairs. They choose to build a replica of him to replace him after tying him up, and he still continues to refuse to rescind his effort to close the science club.

Lunch Hoax

The substitute is a great achievement, but Principal Lewis points out that he will have a lunch meeting with the superintendent the next day, which the monster will not be able to cover. However, while watching Gilmore Girls, the monster becomes pacified and agrees to the hoax in return for lunch at one of the show's locations. However, when Steve refuses to pay for the pledged meal, he abducts Snot. With Billy kidnapped by Dr. Kalgary for stealing the diagrams, Steve must turn to Principal Lewis for assistance in locating Frankenlewis. They believe he's building his own rendition of the town in that location, based on a synopsis in the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls.

When they catch up with Frankenlewis, he's upset that Steve isn't going to be his Lorelei, but Principal Lewis agrees to be just that, which calms him down. Meanwhile, the Smith family learns that tainted water could jeopardize Halloween, but when the town dismisses Roger's CEO character, they drink it anyway, and Roger decides it's time for a new costume.
